Requirements:
- A Master’s (70% minimum) degree in Soil Science specializing in Soil Physics and Chemistry.
- Preferably, the candidate should be less than 40 years.
- As an added advantage, must at most have one (01) year teaching experience at a University or comparable Institution of high learning.
- Evidence of at least two (02) publication in DHET- accredited journal.
- Evidence of both national or international conference attendance and presentation of papers.
- Ability to supervise research projects at final year undergraduate and Honours level.
- Traceable experience in community engagement work.
- Commitment to undertake PhD studies soon after commencement of the position or evidence of enrollment for PhD studies.
- Applications who have registered for a PhD at the advertising institution will have an added advantage.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Teach Soil Science modules, mainly Soil Physics, Soil Chemistry and Mineralogy.
- Undertake individual research or in collaboration with colleagues within and outside the Department.
- Supervise research projects for undergraduate fourth level and Honours students.
- Undertake and arrange community outreach activities as part of the University’s mandate.
- Prepare and develop learning and assessment materials.
- Perform any other duties/responsibilities, including but not limited to administrative duties that may be assigned by the Head of Department.
