Rand Water is the largest bulk water utility in Africa and is one of the largest in the world, providing bulk potable water to more than 11 million people in Gauteng, parts of Mpumalanga, the Free State and North West – an area that stretches over 18 000 km2.
Minimum Requirements
- NQF 7: B. Tech or B.Sc. Natural Sciences
- Certificated Natural Scientist registration (i.e. SACNASP)
- Four years analytical laboratory experience
- Knowledge and application of ISO 17025 as required in test laboratories and Laboratory InformationManagement System (LIMS)
- Knowledge of method validation and uncertainty of measurement in sampling.
- Sound knowledge and application of water analytical methodologies and instrumental techniques.
- Working knowledge of statistics
- Computer literacy in Word Processing and Spreadsheet applications
- Basic knowledge of SANS 241 and other water quality guidelines
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritise, organise and plan
- Interpret results and perform required calculations.
Primary Duties
- Performing and coordinating of sampling and specialised analytical tests.
- Performance and documentation of all quality control checks of specialised or complex analytical tests and theapproval of results on the identified databases.
- Development of sound quality control measures in-line with ISO 17025 and technically support all testing activities.
- The understanding of the technology in order to perform complex method and instrument related troubleshooting.
- Identification, investigation, documentation and reporting of non-conforming results.
- Undertaking and documentation of maintenance of equipment and instrumentation and ensure that they arecorrectly maintained.
- Assist with training and validation of methods as well as other general laboratory tasks.
- The adherence to SHE practices and good housekeeping principles in the area of work
