Job Description
- Join Novus Media Sport, the powerhouse behind KickOff and Soccer Laduma, as we shape the future of digital football media. We’re looking for a strategic and experienced digital editorial leader to drive our content production team and lead innovation across platforms — including a pioneering AI-first initiative. The successful candidate will oversee the daily workflow of the content team, ensuring alignment with business needs, editorial best practices, and overall production goals. While editorial production is the core responsibility, the role also requires close collaboration with commercial teams—especially around native content, sales campaigns, and content optimisation.
- This is an on-site role based at our Cape Town head office (Western Cape), reporting to the Digital Operations Officer. The candidate will be required to have a relevant tertiary qualification and have a minimum of 3-5 years of editorial experience.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage digital editorial best practices.
- Bridge commercial needs with editorial production.
- Manage the content for the editorial and sales campaigns.
- Drive, manage and create content for the publications’ new AI first and automation multi-media production process.
- Ensure consistent coverage and oversight of the digital production desk.
- Provide regular support and coverage for content managers as needed.
Educational Requirements
- Completed a national degree or diploma in English, journalism or media studies, or demonstrate the ability to deliver on the expectations.
Experience Requirements
- At least three years’ experience in content management and subbing.
- Must have a sound knowledge of football, either local or international, or both.
- Strong, up-to-date knowledge of local and/or international football is essential. You should actively follow the sport and be familiar with key developments, leagues, and players.
- Experience in problem solving.
- A background on all mainstream social media platforms.
- Basic understanding of AI tools and how they apply to content creation and multimedia production.
- Understanding of media law and be able to adhere to the South African Press Code.
