Financial Reporting and Analysis
- Prepare and analyse financial statements: Ensure the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas of improvement.
- Financial performance analysis: Assess the company’s financial performance by comparing actual results against budgeted figures and historical data. Provide insights and recommendations to the Finance Executive for decision-making.
- Budget monitoring and analysis: Monitor budget performance, track actual expenditures against budgeted amounts, and analyse deviations. Identify areas of concern, provide explanations for variances, and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare and analyse operational reporting and ensure the accurate and timely preparation of operational reporting compared to year-to-date/budget/prior year/market information.
Budgeting and Forecasting
- Assist in the development of the annual budget: Collaborate with the Finance Executive and other departments to gather inputs, validate assumptions, and prepare budget templates. Ensure alignment with company goals and financial objectives.
- Financial forecasting: Prepare accurate financial forecasts and projections based on market trends, historical data, and input from relevant stakeholders. Regularly update forecasts to reflect changes in business conditions.
Financial Operations, Systems and Control
- Oversee the accurate recording and classification of financial transactions, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and company policies. Monitor transactional workflows and processes to maintain financial data integrity.
- Assist in designing and implementing robust internal controls to safeguard company assets, prevent fraud, and ensure compliance with financial regulations. Regularly review and enhance controls to address emerging risks.
- Identify opportunities for streamlining financial processes, improving efficiency, and enhancing accuracy. Propose and implement process improvements to optimise financial operations.
- Participate in the implementation, maintenance, and improvement of financial systems, including accounting software and ERP systems. ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data in these systems.
- Identify opportunities to streamline financial workflows, automate manual processes, and enhance efficiency. Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to implement process improvements and leverage technology to optimise financial operations.
- Prepare general ledger reconciliations and review reconciliations of accounting clerks.
- Manage the acquisition of capital assets and ensure that assets are properly recorded, amortised, and disposed of as appropriate.
- Responsible for confirmations on accuracy of consignment stock’s stock reports on a monthly basis.
Cash Flow Management
- Develop and maintain accurate cash flow forecasts to support liquidity management.
- Collaborate with relevant departments to gather inputs on cash inflows and outflows, including sales projections, payment terms, and working capital requirements.
- Monitor and analyse working capital components, including inventory, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
- Identify opportunities to optimise working capital levels, reduce cash conversion cycles, and improve cash flow.
- Conduct regular analysis of cash flow patterns, identify trends, and provide insights on cash flow drivers and risks.
- Recommend strategies to enhance cash flow management, such as improving collections or optimising payment terms.
Financial Compliance and Auditing
- Regulatory compliance: Ensure adherence to financial regulations, accounting standards, and tax requirements. Stay updated on changes in regulations and communicate necessary updates to the Finance Executive and relevant stakeholders.
- Internal and External audits and reviews: Assist in coordinating and providing support during internal and external audits and reviews.
- Prepare required documentation, respond to auditor inquiries, and implement recommendations to enhance internal controls and processes.
- Compliance reporting: Prepare accurate and timely compliance reports, including tax filings, statutory financial statements, and other financial disclosures.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with reporting obligations.
Employee Management
- Performance management.
- Provide constructive feedback and guidance to personnel.
- Ensure safety of personnel in accordance with requirements and relevant legislation.
- Ensure the management of personnel within the guidelines of all relevant labour legislation.
Requirements
- Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is required. SAIPA/SAICA/CIMA candidates will receive preference.
- Requirements: At least 3 years of experience in financial management, accounting, or related roles; Demonstrated experience in financial analysis, reporting, budgeting, and planning; Familiarity with financial software systems and ERP systems.
