Job Purpose

  • The Compliance Officer is to monitor compliance with and adequacy of all the regulatory training policies, processes and procedures relating to South African Civil Aviation Regulations, applicable foreign regulations, IOSA and ISAGO standards and SAA standard operating procedures, through the conduct of inspections to proactively identify undesirable conditions and applicable areas requiring improvement.
  • The role is further responsible for interaction with the subject matter Regulatory Trainers and the Manager Regulatory Training to recommend and initiate training manual reviews and updates, to ensure the principles of continual improvement are applied within the Regulatory training department. The role will also support Regulatory Training revenue generation initiatives by assisting to market and administrate the training.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Assist in designing, developing and implementing training policies to ensure staff Regulatory learning and development programmes are aligned with legislative, organisational and employee needs and/or requirements
  • Assist in developing training manuals and assessments for staff and third parties that will ensure they are in compliance with national and international regulations and organisational standards
  • Drive and achieve departmental compliance with legislated requirements, including IOSA, CAA and other safety audit requirements, and organisation’s strategic objectives
  • Continuously update departmental policies, procedures and workflow processes and monitor compliance thereof to ensure seamless functioning of the department
  • Compile training reports and statistical data as required
  • Maintain a document control system, aligned to the relevant organisational policies, to ensure that the correct version of training related documents is utilized by trainers
  • Help ensure compliance to CAA legislation to achieve renewal of the Aviation Training Organisation (ATO) certificate
  • Review and update course curricular objectives and training material on a regular basis and ensure compliance to regulations and best practice
  • Maintain a Quality Control System:
  • Manages projects to contribute to the optimisation of the Regulatory Training function
  • Correlate and analyse training data received, compile reports and make recommendations for improvements
  • Act as an audit guide during the conduct of audits on the Regulatory Training Department at the behest of the Manager Regulatory Training
  • Develop a quality control schedule, based on the requirements identified in the applicable training procedure manuals, with the guidance of and for approval by the Manager Regulatory Training
  • Markets Regulatory Training to support revenue generating initiatives
  • Manages contracts with internal and external Regulatory Training clients
  • Ensures all external and internal training is compliant with all regulatory requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Relevant Bachelor’s degree in Compliance and/ or related field at NQF level 7
  • 3 -5 years’ experience in a compliance role
  • Airline experience
