Website Robben Island Museum (RIM)
Robben Island Museum (RIM) is a public entity responsible for managing, maintaining, presenting, developing and marketing Robben Island as a national estate and World Heritage Site. It was established by the Department of Arts and Culture in 1997 and declared a World Heritage Site in 1999 by The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
Qualifications and experience required:
- National Diploma in Surveying, or equivalent qualification.
- Registered as a Survey Technician.
- Computer literacy – Office applications including CAD and Cartographic experience.
- A valid Code EB driver’s licence.
- Two to four years’ end-user database post-registration experience.
The incumbent will be responsible for:
- Conducting and reporting on various Cadastral Surveys (surveys where property rights are affected) in accordance with the Surveys Act and Regulations.
- Conducting photo control surveys of large scale ortho photo mapping and deformation surveys of dams.
- Translating and calculating Town Planning layouts to General Plans (plans used in Deeds Office for the transfer of individual land) and the generation of survey coordinates.
- Generating coordinates in the pegging/surveying of related projects.
Supervision:
- Providing guidance to personnel on operational procedures.
- Resolving/minimising staff conflicts and addressing deviations in performance levels from agreed standards through the application of specific Human Resources procedures regulating working conditions.
- Monitoring that safety requirements are adhered to in terms of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, during inspections.
